Eat Healthy Albany

Did you know that more than 23 million children and teenagers in the United States ages 2 to 19 are obese or overweight? These numbers are alarming and frightening to a mom of twin toddlers!

Albany Mommy is proud to be a sponsor of Eat Healthy Albany!  This is the first citywide collaboration to help fight obesity and encourage healthy changes in eating. Mayor Gerald D. Jennings, along with Chef Gail Sokol will launch a collaborative initiative Sunday, September 23, 2012, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with a free live event from at the Palace Theatre in downtown Albany. The event is expected to bring in more than 1,500 children and adults for this groundbreaking event. Tickets are free of charge and available at the Palace Theatre box Office or by calling 518-465-3335.
The goal of Eat Healthy Albany is to create a partnership with the residents of Albany to assist them in living healthier lifestyles, promoting the simplicity of eating healthy, generate greater awareness of how eating affects daily performance and become New York State’s first healthy city. This event is the first of its kind to engage an entire city.
Albany Mommy along with CDPHP, SEFCU, News 10 ABC, Lamar Transit, Lang Media, Palace Theatre, Albany 2Cents, Technical Video and Indian Ladder Farms are sponsors of this groundbreaking program.
September marks the start of National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month. Encouraging children to develop healthy habits can last a lifetime. In the past four decades, obesity rates in the United States have soared among all age groups.  Childhood obesity has increased more than fourfold among those ages 6 to 11.
Please join us on Sunday, September 23, 2012 from 1-4pm at the Palace Theater for a free live event to launch Eat Healthy Albany!  Albany Mommy has a limited number of free tickets for this event.  Send an email to info@albanymommy.com or send me a message on facebook to secure tickets.
