The elephants from the Barnum Bailey Circus will be having a “power lunch” on Thursday May 3rd at 2pm (weather permitting).

Takes place in front of the Times Union Center.

I have gotten a lot of questions about Trader Joe’s opening on Wolf Road.  There doesn’t seem to be an opening date listed anywhere!  But, I have a secret way I try to figure out when stores are close to opening in the area…..

Want to know what it is???  Check the job openings on the companies website.  They have to hire store managers first then everybody else.  Watch for the job openings for management and you’ll know it’s a few months away.  The hiring of everybody else usually signals that opening day is closer!!

Lots going on in Latham today.

The restaurant that was formerly Dakota no longer exists.  It has been completely knocked down.

HomeGoods had a soft opening today from 4-7pm to get ready for Sunday.  Let me tell you, they have some really good stuff!  I can’t wait to shop on Sunday.  Doors open at 8am!

Construction has started on the old Dakota Restaurant.  They are tearing it down to build a Joe’s Crab Shack.

There have been some huge construction trucks there and they have been busy.  If you are looking for something to amuse little ones this would be cool!  It right at the Rt 9  entrance to Latham Farms.

We recently got to taste test some HappyFamily food.  Well, actually the kids got to taste test.

I went to Target and picked out the Happy Food I thought they’d like to try then we invited a few wee ones over for a buffet style taste test!

The kids tried some strawberry yogurt snacks, banana puffs, orange and pumpkin breakfast squeeze, and some happy tot pouches.

The banana flavored puffs were gone in minutes, eaten by all the kids, even those beyond the toddler stage.  I have a child who refuses breakfast most days and she loved the orange and pumpkin Happy Squeeze.  We’ve had them for breakfast once this week when we were in the car – perfectly for on the go!

The Happy Yogi snacks didn’t go over too well at all.  Not too popular with anyone.  But, that was the only “dislike”.

Do you know about Toddler Tales?  It is a wonderful offering from the Town of Colonie.  On Fridays from 10-11:30am kids under the age of 5 are invited to the Colonie Community Center on Central Ave for free play, sing a longs, and snacks.  $2 /kid.

It’s treasure hunt time aka  ”getting kids to pick up because they think it’s a game”.  Ha ha ha.

We had a treasure hunt tonight at our house.  It’s been a disaster lately and I am so sick of picking up the kids stuff in the kitchen, my room, every bathroom, etc. I wanted to open my mouth and yell.  Wouldn’t do me any good though.  So….

I sat down the kids and said we were going on a treasure hunt.  Each child had to find 10 things of their own in the house and put them back where they belong.  Then they could each have “_______” – insert your choice here.  Ours was dessert.

They actually laughed while cleaning up!  Got any tricks to share like this?
